Casualty reception
During the Second World War, St John Ambulance and British Red Cross volunteers worked in hospitals, supporting medical teams and treating the injured. The artist, Doris Zinkeisen, volunteered as a St John Ambulance Brigade nurse in St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington.
