The nursing bursaries, which were to be awarded annually, were created as part of the 1980 Year of Nursing. They were awarded to one professional nurse, one nurse working in occupational health and one non-professional nurse. The recipients had to be working in St John Ambulance as volunteers and the bursaries had to be used for specific nursing projects or training.
