A Nursing Member receiving a nursing bursary from Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother
The Nursing Member in this photograph was also awarded the Florence Nightingale Award in 1980. She used the money from both awards to finance a trip to Canada. There she studied the joint St John Ambulance and Red Cross research programme titled ‘There’s No Place Like Home for Healthcare’, the programme was designed to teach the public basic nursing skills.
