The Duke of Connaught Ward brass plaque
In September 1915, the St John Ambulance Brigade opened a hospital in Étaples to help serve the front line in the First World War. For the large donation of £2,500 per year, the donor was recognised with the naming of a ward. The Duke of Connaught was Grand Prior of the Order of St John between 1910 and 1939.
