Étaples X-ray presentation plaque
In September 1915, the St John Ambulance Brigade opened a hospital in Étaples to help serve the front line in the First World War. Much of the equipment was donated, including the X-ray apparatus that this sign commemorates, donated by the Women's National Liberal Association. Almost half of all patients were x-rayed on admission to the hospital.
