A member of the Guards' free fall parachute team coming in to land with the St John flag at the London Marathon
On the 9 May 1982, six members of the Guards’ free fall parachute team jumped from 2,500 ft carrying a St John flag, their target was another large flag staked to the ground in Greenwich Park. After completing their successful jump, the paratroopers joined other runners for the start of the London Marathon, in which they ran on behalf of St John Cadets.
