Phyllida Stewart Roberts had a life of public service. She was heavily involved in St John Ambulance and held roles including County President for Sussex and Superintendent-in-Chief from 1990 - 1993, in which capacity she visited many places including Bermuda, Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong. For 10 years she chaired the Joint Committee of St John and the British Red Cross.
