Officers of the Knights of Malta
This painting is of a type popular in the eighteenth century, after a series of engravings by Francesco Zimelli. It is almost certainly intended to show an array of uniforms used by the Order, rather than actual persons. As such, it may be assumed that the details of costume are all accurate and consistent in date.
