In 1914 The Brigade Register and Record sheet BF1N were introduced. This recorded date of enrolment, name, rank, ambulance qualifications, uniform status, number of practices and public duties, inspection, whether passed re-examination, services medals, if belonging to a Brigade Voluntary Aid Detachment, and general remarks. Remarks included recording if the member was working in hospital, working in France, on the land, moved from area.
The format of the BF1N was the same until 1922. Then front cover of a folded form gave details of Division address, member in charge, Divisional surgeon (if one), numbers in the Division, practices held, cases attended, hospital attendances, parade and examination details and how Division financially supported, number enrolled in VAD. The main form added a record of the members District number and number of hospital attendances. In 1929 a record of Home Nursing qualification was added. In 1937 a record of Air Raid Precaution instructors, rank and file certificates and reservists was added. In 1940 the BF1N extends in size again to include listings of whether the member belongs to a Civil Nursing Reserve, completed Anti-gas qualifications and ARP attendances in hospital, first aid post or mobile unit. The BF1N is modified in 1944, the APR columns removed, and Civil Defence Attendances added. It is changed again in 1945 the Civil Defence Attendances no longer recorded. Now included in Brigade duties are public, transport, hospital, child welfare, nursery, blood transfusion.
The forms also contain space for additional remarks on members such as resignations, transfers, missed inspections, work in military and civilian hospitals, illness, air raid precaution, evacuations. Correspondence is attached to some forms concerning topics such as administrative matters, and requests for members to remain efficient.
