Coin of Raymond III
After the ‘star and crescent’ deniers struck in the late 1140s, the next billon coinage to be introduced is the so-called ‘star’ deniers. The first of these to be issued are in the name of Raymond, and are likely to have been minted by Raymond III soon after his release from captivity in 1173/4.
