Diary of Private Harry J. Sabin

From its inception, it was intended that trained St John Ambulance Brigade volunteers would act as a reserve for the medical services of the Armed Forces. From 1899 - 1902, 2,046 Brigade volunteers travelled to South Africa to provide support as medical orderlies in the hospitals treated war casualties. Private Sabin documented his experience in this diary.
