St John Ambulance Member, 1939
The Home Guard was comprised of men unfit for armed service in Britain during the Second World War, whose role involved defending the country from an enemy invasion. Some St John Ambulance members were part of the Home Guard, as captured in this watercolour alongside the Second World War Defence Medal.
