In 1972, the Malaysian St John Ambulance Association and St John Ambulance Brigade were amalgamated into the St John Ambulance of Malaysia [SJAM]. A set of rules were prepared the following year, which state that the Prime Minister of Malaysia and the Minister of Health shall hold the position of National President and Deputy National President of St John Ambulance of Malaysia respectively.
