A St John Ambulance Member on duty at a race meet at Hedon Grass Track
The site in this photograph started life as Hedon Park Racecourse in the late 19th century and was known for having the longest racing straight section in Britain. After the racecourse closed in 1909, the site was in operation as an airfield, but in 1948, part of the site became a venue for a motorcycle speedway and grass track, better known as Hedon Stadium.
