Princess Margaret, Commandant-in-Chief, presents a Nursing Cadet with a Meritorious Service Certificate while inspecting a parade of St John Ambulance Brigade Cadets
In 1948, Princess Margaret was appointed as the first Commandant-in-Chief of the Cadets at the age of 18. This photograph shows her attending the 1959 Annual Cadet Rally, which was held in Guildford, with over 4500 St John Ambulance Brigade Cadets from all over England. Following her inspection, Princess Margaret presented awards, including the Meritorious Service Certificates and Grand Prior’s Badges.
