The No. 6 Cyclists Division was established in London in March 1891. It was a special Division, formed in association with the Brixton Ramblers Cycling Club, with members who attended to public duties on a bicycle, armed with a first aid kit. St John Ambulance’s modern equivalent today is the Cycle Response Unit, a rapid-response bicycle-based Unit which is highly effective in dense, urban areas.
