Prince Philip observing Cadets undertaking a casualty evactuation
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme was created in 1954 by Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, to support young people's development. St John Ambulance's youth members can take part in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, combining first aid, fitness, youth volunteering, and expedition elements, and Prince Philip himself came to visit Cadets undertaking their Award practice on occasion.
