Sir Winston Churchill's funeral was the first state funeral held in the United Kingdom for an individual who was not part of the British royal family, and at the time, was the largest state funeral in British history. His body was laid out in state in Westminster Hall for three days, before being processed to St Paul's Cathedral for the funeral service.
