A St John Ambulance Brigade gas training class in action
This is a photograph of a St John Ambulance Brigade gas training class, where civilians were prepared to respond to potential gas attacks during the Second World War. By the outbreak of the War, the Brigade had around 7,000 anti-gas instructors who had trained over 105,000 members in anti-gas measures.
