Home Nursing training session at Harrow

Home Nursing was a mandatory subject for all female St John Ambulance volunteers until the late 20th century. As well as being qualified first aiders, they were trained to look after patients either at home or in a hospital setting. Following the founding of the NHS in 1948, home nursing became an even more important part of St John's work.
