4 Tarì of Grand Master Marc'Antonio Zondadari
From its inception in 11th century Jerusalem, caring for the poor was central to the purposes of the Order, and continues to this day. The inscription on this coin perhaps refers to the tradition of alms giving, which alongside medical care, was just one of the ways the Order honoured their vow to care for each person as if they were Christ himself.
