Gros grand of Charlotte of Cyprus
Towards the end of the thirteenth century, the gros grand was introduced as a new denomination of currency in Cyprus. This coin uses a heraldic symbol of a shield quartered with the coats of arms of Jerusalem, Lusignan barry, Cyprus and Armenia. A gros grand could also feature a throned king, king on horseback, bust of a king or a lion rampant.
