Tahegan of Leo I
The intriguing iconography of this so-called coronation tram shows a king kneeling in supplication in front of a standing figure with hands out-stretched. The standing figure was originally identified as Christ anointing the king, but has since been revealed to be the Virgin Mary giving support and protection. It is therefore unlikely these coins were minted to commemorate the coronation.
