Denier in the name of Bohemond
Bearing in mind the military history of the crusader states, it is perhaps surprising that the iconography on this coin – an armoured bust in profile - is unique. Parallels from this period can be found in other artforms, for example wall paintings in the Templar chapel of Cressac-Saint-Genis or illustrations in a Bible in the collection of The Royal Library in The Hague.
