View of the Entrance to Quarantine harbour
The Quarantine Harbour, now known as the Marsamxett Harbour, gets its name from being used as a strict maritime isolation zone for ships, crews and cargo arriving in Malta from the early 16th century. To limit outbreaks of plague and cholera, people and produce had to stop here before being allowed into the main city.
