Life Saving Medal of the Order of St John in gold awarded to Sergeant Julie Timms
On 12th March 1987, St John Ambulance volunteer Julie Timms was on duty at the Stratford-upon-Avon racecourse manning the post at the second fence. On the first circuit of the course a jockey fell from his horse. Mrs Timms tended to the jockey on the course as the race continued around them, shielding him with her own body.
