Agnus Dei with the Banner of the Order
This painting depicts the Agnus Dei, or Lamb of God, holding the banner of the Order of St John. Behind the lamb, in Latin, an inscription reads 'Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world', quoted from the gospel of John, on which the lamb lies.
