Madonna della Sedia
This painting depicts the Virgin Mary holding an infant Jesus with St John the Baptist, just a few months older than Jesus, sat close by. The original Madonna della Sedia was painted by celebrated Renaissance artist Raphael and is now in the Palazzo Pitti in Florence. This depiction of the Madonna and child is iconic and has been copied many hundreds of times.
