Leopold II, Emperor of Austria
Leopold II succeeded his childless brother Joseph II as Holy Roman Emperor and reigned for only two years (1790 - 1792). The Knights held Malta by the Gift of a previous Holy Roman Emperor, Charles V, and they continued to pay rent of one falcon each year. Leopold is often overlooked by his far more famous sister, Queen Marie Antoinette.
