Grand Master Emmanuel de Rohan
Fond of naming things after himself, Emmanuel de Rohan was an impressive Grand Master in the ‘calm before the storm’, just before Napoleon took Malta from the Knights in 1798. After re-fortifying a tower and battery, it was renamed Fort Rohan, he elevated a village to a city, then renamed Citta De Rohan, and wrote some constitutional law, the Code de Rohan.
