Joseph de Limerie des Choisy
Joseph de Limerie des Choisy was received into the Priory of Aquitaine, one of three priories in France, in 1667. By 1729, he was elected as Grand Hospitaller and then only six months later as Grand Prior of Aquitaine. Given the short turn around, this painting seemingly commemorates both events as the dates are mentioned in the inscription in the bottom left of the painting.
