Grand Master Jean de Homedes
Juan de Homedes was a Spanish Knight who became the 47th Grand Master of the Order of Malta and served between 1536 - 1553. He was involved in the Siege of Rhodes in 1522. The Knights had moved to Malta by the time de Homedes was in charge, and he started fortification work on the island to protect against the Ottoman Empire, who had previously propelled the Knights from Rhodes.
