Grand Master Emmanuel Pinto

Pinto was the Grand Master of the Order of St John from 1741 to 1773 and is remembered for how he modelled himself after European royalty. Upon his election, Pinto took the closed crown of full sovereignty as his symbol of office, and he behaved as if he were the King of Malta.
