Verdala Palace, Malta
This painting was acquired by Sir and Lady Lintorn Simmons after he became Governor of Malta in 1884. He is a classic example of one of the artist's clients; an Englishman who wanted to purchase romantic souvenirs of his time in Malta. His daughter Blanche Lintorn Simmons, this paintings donor, published one of the first surveys of art in government properties in Malta.
