Grand Master Emmanuel de Rohan

This painting was donated by ‘Princess Paleologue’, an interesting figure in the early twentieth century. She made the mistake of saying she would prefer to sell the painting but would be prepared to donate if the Order couldn’t afford it. The Librarian at the time leapt on this and said that with the rebuilding of the bomb-damaged church, he would gratefully receive her gift.
