Grand Master Gregorio Carafa
Gregorio Carafa was a nobleman from an influential Neapolitan aristocratic family who became the 61st Grand Master of the Order of St John and served between 1680 - 1690. He contributed to the strengthening of Malta's defences during his reign, including building additional fortifications at Fort Saint Elmo, and his time as Grand Master was marked by the strength of the Order's navy.
