David Garrick and Tragedy, Music and Comedy

David Garrick was an English actor, who was great friends with Dr Samuel Johnson and Sir Edward Cave, both involved with The Gentleman’s Magazine. Garrick gave his first performance at St John’s Gate, with a supporting cast of magazine employees. He went on to become the leading actor of his age.
