View behind High Altar
The tiles on the floor of this painting are incorrect. The artist Brocktorff often made sketches and studies on site, and finished his work back at his studio. The tiles on the floor of the real Co-Cathedral Church in Valletta are laid in a perpendicular diamond pattern, rather than the chequerboard arrangement in the painting.
