Annual Reports and Pamphlets

Contains both annual reports and pamphlets relating to the work of the St John Ambulance Association (SJAA). Includes annual reports of the Order of St John Ambulance Department Central Committee (1878-1879) and annual reports of the St John Ambulance Association Central Executive Committee (1879-1889). The pamphlets relate to topics including methods of transporting sick and wounded persons, hospitaller work at St Johns Gate, the history of the Order of St John of Jerusalem, horse and ambulance carriages and two wheeled litters, the Victoria Hospital in Cairo, ambulance organisation during epidemics and first aid generally. These pamphlets were largely written by members of the SJAA including John Furley and Vincent Kennett Barrington. The volumes also contain proceedings of meetings, instructions for SJAA Centres, extracts of SJAA member led first aid to injured persons read at the Social Science Congress (1881), biography of Herbert Perrott, assorted conference/congress/exhibition papers, SJAA articles of constitution and regulations and a report of meeting relating to the Invalid Transport Corps.
