Contains correspondence regarding a competition for designing horse ambulance wagons for town and country use, which was advertised in newspapers. The Central Executive Committee of the St John Ambulance Association offered winners a medal, diploma and money prize. The conditions of the original advert state "It must be capable of accommodating four patients, a driver, and a supply of surgical appliances, and must be for single draught."
