The handwritten diary entries about Joan's public duties with her Division in London. Some key duties includes the opening of Parliament by King George V on 6 February 1911, the Coronation of King George V and Queen Mary at Westminster Abbey and the Royal Procession of the King and Queen the day after the Coronation, a suffragette demonstration in Parliament Square. Further duties mentioned include royal processions in London, duties at White City in London, duties at Charing Cross Hospital, the Eastern Dispensary in Whitechapel. Also included are accounts from small and large scale reviews, royal reviews, and inspections of Joan's Division, and of the the No. 1 District (Prince of Wales's Corps) of the Brigade in Hyde Park, of which Joan Division was a part.

The diary entries contain account of the events, first aid occurrences, Joan's duty work at the events, and also include newspaper cuttings about the events which have been pasted into the book. Official souvenir programmes for the Coronation of King George V and Queen Mary have been slotted into the book, which include photographs of the royals, colourful illustrations, and information about the coronation at Westminster Abbey, and the royal progress through London.
